Vancouver’s first snowfall may be on its way. Environment Canada is forecasting the possibility of light flurries arriving Sunday and Monday in Metro Vancouver.

While this week will remain quite wet, with 50-70mm of rainfall expected Wednesday in the Fraser Valley, temperatures will drastically cool on the weekend.

Environment Canada is calling for a low of minus three and a high of three on Sunday and a high of four on Monday with a 60 per cent chance of flurries or rain showers both days.

Travelers are warned to be prepared and check conditions before driving the Coquihalla summit and Allison Pass as those areas will see a heavy snowfall beginning Tuesday.

The upcoming forecast signals the beginning of Metro Vancouver’s winter weather conditions, though temperatures this season are expected to remain above average.
