Vancouver Police have initiated an investigation following an early morning stabbing in a Vancouver Westside neighbourhood resulting in the death of the victim.
At around 6:30 a.m. this morning, officers responded to a report of a fight at an apartment building located on Balsam Street near West 41st Avenue. Upon arriving at the scene, they found a 59-year-old man in the building lobby who appeared to have been stabbed.
The man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, but he has since succumbed to his injuries.
Police say the suspect and victim are known to each other, and that the suspect is on the loose. This is Vancouver’s ninth homicide of 2014.
UPDATE: A 65-year-old male who resides in Richmond was arrested in Coquitlam by RCMP.
