Welcome back to Jurassic World. The full trailer for the fourth instalment to the Jurassic Park film series, a movie that has been a decade in the making, was released earlier today by Universal Pictures and Legendary Studios.

The sequel returns fans to the setting of Isla Nublar, the original island in Michael Crichton’s novel, 22 years after the disastrous events of the original Jurassic Park film released in 1993.

Built on the ruins of the original theme park, the island is now a major international tourist destination and luxury resort to the likes of Disney World and Sea World combined. Over 20,000 visitors travel to the island daily by ferry from Costa Rica to experience the dinosaur zoo, safari and biological preserve.

Scenes from the trailer indicates a monorail shuttles visitors across the island and through the new giant gates of the park. Visitors can experience dinosaur attraction experiences such as paddling down a river through herbivore habitats and a Sea World-esque shamu enclosure for the Mosasaurus – a massive prehistoric crocodile.

Bryce Dallas Howard, who appears to have taken on the role as the park’s “new John Hammond,” talks about the improvements made in genetics to the extent that they have created a genetically modified hybrid dinosaur. Chris Pratt character warns that “it’s probably not a good idea,” which later devolves into an order to “evacuate the park” when the hybrid dinosaur breaks free.

As chaos consumes the island, Pratt releases trained Velociraptors in a last ditch attempt to take down the hybrid dinosaur – a “highly intelligent animal” that will “kill anything that moves.” The final moments of the trailer features a dramatic piano key stroke version of John Williams’ iconic Jurassic Park theme music.

The $150-million film is directed by Colin Trevorrow and produced by Steven Spielberg, who are both aiming to evoke the first film’s magic and set it apart from the second and third films. If the film proves to be a success, it will mark the start of a new Jurassic World film trilogy.

Filming began in April at Honolulu and Kauai and ended in early-August at New Orleans. The film utilizes more animatronic dinosaurs than the first two sequels and its score is composed by Michael Giacchino, whose works include J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek series, Super 8 and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation, The Lego Movie, Guardians of the Galaxy)Bryce Dallas Howard (50/50, Spider-Man 3), Ty Simpkins (Iron Man 3), Nick Robinson (Melissa & Joey) and BD Wong, who will reprise his role as Dr. Henry Wu from the 1993 film. It will be released in theatres on June 12, 2015.
