Police issue warning following three sexual assaults in South Granville, Oak and Cambie

Vancouver Police are issuing a public warning as they believe three recent sexual assaults in the South Granville, Oak and Cambie neighbourhoods are linked to one suspect.

All of these incidents targeted middle-aged and Asian woman, with the victims describing the suspect as a 5’10” tall, white male between the ages of 35 to 40. He had a medium build and wore dark clothing at the time of the alleged assaults.

None of the three women knew their attacker and they have all suffered significant emotional distress in the attacks.

All three incidents were reported to police and are being investigated by the Vancouver Police Sex Crimes Unit. Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at 604-717-2602 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

April 20 incident

A elderly Asian woman was walking on Oak Street near West 55th Avenue when she was groped by a man from behind. The woman continued her journey home when the man walked away.

However, the man appeared for a second time and touched her inappropriately again. The man walked away when the woman screamed.

June 17 incident

On the morning of June 17, an elderly Asian woman walking with her dog on Granville Street near West 30th Avenue was approached from behind and struck violently between the legs by the suspect.

October 3 incident

Last Friday morning, a middle-aged Asian woman was walking on West 6th Avenue between Granville and Oak streets when she was approached from behind and groped.

The man walked away, and the woman followed him. She confronted her attacker, who then punched her in the face, knocking her to the ground, before walking away. She was taken to hospital for treatment of minor physical injuries.
