Vancouver Police swears in new recruits, including Olympian Meghan Agosta

The Vancouver Police Department has a new class of recruits in their ranks, among them Olympic Gold medalist Meghan Agosta.

The swearing-in ceremony took place Thursday afternoon, bringing 16 new members to the force.

Class 146 of the VPD has a significant distinction when it comes to gender and policing in Vancouver; this group is split evenly in numbers of men and women.

Agosta, a three-time Olympic gold medalist, represented 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, and the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. In the Vancouver Games, Agosta was named MVP. She revealed she was moving from the ice to the force in August, and was thrilled to be sworn in Thursday:
