UPDATE at 6:18 p.m. – Regular service has resumed – trains are beginning to move again.

Earlier this evening:

Evening rush hour commuters who depend on SkyTrain should allocate extra time for their travels or use alternate routes.

SkyTrain’s Expo and Millennium Lines are experiencing systemwide delays due to a problem train between Gateway and Scott Road stations in Surrey. The power to this span of SkyTrain has been turned off.

Passengers onboard multiple trains have also reportedly opened train doors and are walking on tracks, causing further delays.

Transit Police have previously stated that those caught opening train doors and walking on the tracks could be fined upwards of $230. Criminal charges of public mischief are also possible.

The breakdown began just after 5 p.m. TransLink does not know when the problem train will be removed from the tracks. Early reports indicate that the train overheated and the motor turned off.
