Jon Abbott is the Canucks new radio play-by-play voice

TSN 1040 (formerly Team 1040) has hired Jon Abbott to broadcast the majority of Canucks games on radio this season.

With the departure of former Canucks announcer Rick Ball to Calgary, TSN 1040 has a huge void to fill.

This tweet tells us how they plan to replace the Baller:

So who is Jon Abbott?

The 29-year-old Abbott was one of the voices for the Toronto Maple Leafs, calling mid-week games, and working for Leafs TV. Prior to that, called games for the Toronto Marlies of the AHL.

This year, he’ll be doing all the games on radio when John Shorthouse is busy doing the television broadcast.
