Opening soon: Gyoza Bar will have sake on tap, kitchen views, and unique ramen

Downtown will have a new place for ramen and gyoza thanks to the addition of Gyoza Bar, where the house sake flows on tap, and diners can watch their food courtesy an open kitchen.

Opening is slated for September 6, and the 2,600-square-foot 85-seat eatery at 622 West Pender Street will be serving lunch, dinner, and drinks–including their Aburi Restaurants Canada house sake on tap.

There are some exciting highlights to Gyoza Bar’s menu that meld Japanese tradition with the flavours of Vancouver. Look for their signature dish, Fraser Valley Pork Teppan Gyoza, prepared in Japanese “imono” cast iron pans.

Ramen is certainly enjoying its time in the food scene spotlight, and Gyoza Bar is raising the proverbial bar by offering a North American take on an up-and-coming Japanese trend of tomato-based ramen broth. Their Kaisen Tomato Ramen is made using a tomato-saffron seafood broth. All of Gyoza Bar’s ramen noodles will be hand-crafted in-house, and their broths made from scratch.

Diners can watch the noodles being made and their meals being prepared via a “peek-a-boo” window into the prep space, and an open kitchen design for those seated at the bar.

Gyoza Bar is part of the family of restaurants that includes Vancouver’s Miku and Minami.
