3 UBC buildings evacuated for possible gas leak

Three buildings on the University of British Columbia’s main campus were evacuated Monday afternoon following reports of a suspected gas leak.

Fire crews received initial reports of a gas smell at Agronomy road and Main Mall, according to Global BC. “You can actually smell the gas,” tweeted one person in the area.

Authorities responded to the scene and ordered the ICICS Building, the MacLeod Building and the Kaiser Building evacuated.

An all-clear was issued at about 2 p.m. and the buildings re-opened.
