Has Tim Hortons answered your prayers by hinting they might have a Bacon Donut on their menu soon?

Things are getting pretty hot in the Timmy’s test kitchen thanks to the current Duelling Donuts promo, and to get everyone’s tastebuds primed for the Savoury showdown, the donut chain is tempting us with the prospect of a Black Pepper Bacon-topped donut they’re calling “Achin’ For Bacon.”

Achin’ For Bacon isn’t quite ready to come out of the oven and onto store racks. Tim Hortons is using the short video to “inspire” fan concoctions in their ongoing competition where donut lovers submit their ideas for donuts, which are in turn evaluated by a panel of judges, then narrowed down for a public vote. For their final week, the theme is savoury. Enter the Achin’ For Bacon, via this video teaser:

Inspired? Great. If your donut pitch ignites the sugary passions of judges Ben Mulroney, Jason Priestley, Anna Olson, and Jann Arden, you could be one of eight finalists chosen to pitch to the public. Which means it’s up to you and that quartet of authority to get a bacon donut on the Timmys menu. While Tim Hortons’ video claims “Your eyes are not deceiving you” when it comes to the Achin’ For Bacon, it remains to be seen if they’re going to actually sell their test kitchen creation.

In the meantime, if you need an easy Tim Hortons bacon donut hack, simply order up your favourite glazed donut (Maple or Chocolate, perhaps) and a side of bacon. Crumble the bacon and pile it on top, or alternate bites. Boom.
