UPDATE at 9:15 p.m. TransLink says Expo and Millennium Line service will be fully restored and operational by 10 p.m. SkyTrain president Fred Cummings has also issued an apology.
There are major SkyTrain delays this evening due to a computer problem with the automation system.
The issues first began just after 5 p.m. and it is expected that normal service will not resume until at least 9 p.m. The problems causing the glitch could take more than 5 hours to resolve.
Millennium Line service is not operational between Braid and Sapperton Stations while there is no service between the Expo Line’s Royal Oak and King George Stations.
A bus bridge has been set-up between Metrotown and King George Stations, however, these buses are not reliable.
There is limited train service between the remaining SkyTrain spans that are still operational. Some trains had to be manually driven into the station by SkyTrain attendants.
Regular service on the Canada Line is not affected as it is part of a different system.
Those who need to use SkyTrain this evening should plan alternate routes. Some have reported on social media that they are still not at their destination after several hours of waiting.

A few frustrated train passengers who were stuck inside a stalled train between Columbia and Scott Road Stations took it upon themselves to open the door and walk along the tracks to the nearest station. It was later revealed that this caused further delays on the system.
