This weekend, Surrey’s Holland Park will host tens of thousands of people for Fusion Festival, an annual celebration of food, family fun, multiculturalism and musical performances spanning six stages.

The festival takes place throughout the weekend on Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20. Admission is free – see below for highlights of this year’s Fusion Festival:

Free Concerts

The musical lineup for the festival is extensive and all six stages will open at 11:30 a.m. each day.

Some of the largest artist names performing at the event include folk/rock guitarist Bruce Cockburn, Vancouver-based indie/alternative band Hey Ocean!, Aidan Knight, the Boom Booms, Silva, Australian blues artist Ash Grunwald and many more artists.

Inside the Flavours of Surrey

One major mainstay of the festival is its wide variety of international foods. A large cooking stage for “celebrity” chefs to demonstrate their skills opens up at 12:30 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday and will offer cooking tips on everything from Chinese to French cuisine for kids and families alike.

The cooking stage will also join the over three dozen cultural pavilions offering culinary delights from all over the world. There will be pavilions for the following countries: Argentina (New), Bangladesh (New), Barbados Bolivia, Canada, China Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Fiji, Ghana, Greece, Haiti, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Israel (New), Indonesia, Jamaica, Kenya, Lebanon, Metis, Mexico, Morocco (New), Nepal, Nigeria (New), Pakistan, Palestine, Portugal Peru, Philippines, Poland, Russia, Spain (New), South Africa, Taiwan, Togo, Tonga.

Kids World

A variety of tents offering kid-friendly fun will be available on the festival grounds. Among them will be Surrey Libraries’ Storyville, a games tent, a giant sandbox, a crafts tent and much more.

The Re-Enactors

Professional actors will bring the history of Surrey to life by recreating the lives of the city’s earliest pioneers. These fun, interactive performances are presented by the City of Surrey in partnership with Heritage Services.

Surrey Fusion Festival 2014

When: Saturday, July 19 to Sunday, July 20 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: Holland Park, Surrey. Easily accessible via SkyTrain at Surrey Central or King George. Bike parking available on site and free public parking available on Old Yale Road.
Cost: Admission is FREE but food tickets are required to purchase food from vendors. Three booths on site will provide food tickets at $1/each. Food items range between 2-8 tickets.
