The provincial government and the BC Teachers’ Federation have been unable to resolve the ongoing full-scale teachers’ strike in time for summer courses to resume.

To date, the Metro region’s school districts for Vancouver, North Vancouver, Burnaby, Maple Ridge, Langley, Surrey, Abbotsford, and Chilliwack. However, Surrey will have summer school for a small group of 47 students in Grade 12 who are in need of credits to graduate.

The province’s Labour Relations Board has ruled that remedial summer courses are an ‘essential service’, but most school districts are unable to find students that qualify for the sessions under the ruling.
