We all know that Vancouver, Hollywood North, is known for movie production and TV shows. What’s not so well known is that Vancouver is also a hub for recording artists, and we’ve had some big names record some classics in our city.

Recorded in Vancouver: 5 Albums You Didn’t Expect

We all know Vancouver’s known as Hollywood North. What’s not so well known is that Vancouver is also a hub for recording artists, and we’ve had big names record some classics in our city.

  • Busta Rhymes – Genesis

    By Vancity Buzz

Arguably 1 of the best MCs of all time (listen to ‘Look at me Now’ if you’re not convinced), Busta recorded ‘Genesis’ in Vancouver. He owns a green Lamborghini, so he’d fit right in driving downtown.

  • Drake – Take Care

    By Vancity Buzz

Drake’s 2nd studio album, Take Care, includes tracks such as ‘Take Care’, ‘Headlines’ and ‘The Motto’. So, in a sense ‘YOLO’ was coined in Vancouver.

  • Mötley Crüe – Dr. Feelgood

    By Vancity Buzz

The last album to feature Vince Neil on vocals until 1997, Dr. Feelgood is regarded as one of Mötley Crüe’s best.

  • KISS – Psycho Circus

    By Vancity Buzz

Psycho Circus was KISS’ first album back in full makeup (thankfully). The Japanese version of this album included a pop-up cover, and was probably the source of nightmares for the coulrophobic.

  • Bon Jovi – Slippery When Wet

    By Vancity Buzz

This album contains some of Bon Jovi’s greatest hits: ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’, ‘Wanted Dead or Alive’ & ‘You Give Love a Bad Name,’ and is possibly one of the most well-known albums out of Vancouver.
