It’s festival season, friends! With Pemberton and Squamish just around the corner, it’s time to start getting your beauty essentials together. Here’s our list of 10 must-have items festival goers shouldn’t be seen without!
Applying a bright liner to your lower or upper lash line is an easy way to add a pop of colour to your look – my favourite part about this is that it’s super quick and anyone can do it! I’m notorious for having a bright colour in my lower lash line and my favourites are the 24/7 Glide-On Pencils by Urban Decay ($24) and the Super Charged liners from Ardency Inn ($22). Drug stores also carry great options from lines such as Revlon and Rimmel ($3.99) for those of you wanting something a bit more budget-friendly!
Stains come in many forms these days but there’s only one reason why I love them – long-wear! Im a huge powder blush girl but for those days I need my cheek colour to stay all day and don’t care to re-apply, I reach for those trusty stains. They give your cheeks a gorgeous, natural flush and don’t budge!
- My Favourite: Convertible Colours for Cheek and Lip by Stila ($33)
- Budget Friendly Option: Rimmel Stay Blushed Liquid Cheek Stain ($6.99)
Keep those messy, festival waves looking fresh with some dry shampoo! It’ll absorb oils and odours and also gives you a little root lift, and who doesn’t love a little volume? Spray this stuff into your roots, let it sit, gently rub and boom! You’ve got Shakira hair (results may vary).
- My Favourite: Dry Bar Detox Dry Shampoo ($14 – $20)
- Budget Friendly Option: göt2b Rockin’ It Dry Shampoo ($5.98)
Tinted Moisturizer / BB Cream
Even out your tone and give your skin some hydration and protection! With the sun beaming down on you and the heat from the crowds, you’re going to want some SPF and something lightweight that won’t melt right off. Plus it’ll give you skin a nice, healthy glow! It’s easily applied with your fingers and can be done under a minute – perfect for a girl on the go!
- My Favourite: Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer ($55)
*This product doesn’t advertise the SPF but titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are listed in the ingredients.
- Budget Friendly Option: Garnier Skin Renew BB Cream ($16.99)
Tinted Lip Balm
I’m going to sound like a broken record here but the key to healthy skin is hydration and protection, hence why I’m crazy about it! Your lips need some some lovin’ too. Using one with a hint of colour will help bring some life back to your pout!
- My Favourite: Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 ($26)
- Budget Friendly Option: Maybelline Baby Lips ($3.99)
Your skin will thank you after a full day of dancing around in the heat. Giving my face a wipe after a long day is one of the best moments of my day – I always feel so refreshed! Josie Maran’s Bare Naked Wipes ($15) are soft, gentle and biodegradable! I can’t get enough of these babies!
- Budget Friendly Option: Neutrogena All-In-One Makeup Removing and Cleansing Wipes ($8.79)
Face / Eye Appliqués
These may not be for everyone but they’re a super fun way to add some character to your outfit. They come in full mask forms, eyebrow covers and other fun designs – they’re also re-usable! They’re a must have for the freest of spirits!
Ever wanted to dye your hair an obscure colour but couldn’t commit to having it longer than it takes to snap a selfie? Kevin Murphy’s Color Bugs ($20 – $25) are a summer must-have for me! They come in Purple, Pink, White and Shimmer. I usually apply a bit of hair wax to my ends before applying the pigment and then lock it in with a spray. You can purchase Color Bugs online, CurliQue Beauty and other select salons.
Anyone that knows me knows that I never leave the house without some sort of brow product on. Brows add structure to your face that complete any and every look. I love using pencils to quickly fill in any sparse areas. They’re easy to pack and easy to use – what’s not to love about that?
- My Favourite: Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz Pencil ($28)
- Budget Friendly Option: Sephora Collection Retractable Waterproof Brow Pencil ($16)
I love me some press-ons! I’ve recently fallen in love with the Kiss Gel Fantasy Nails ($12.99) and will probably never go to another event without them. They’re the perfect length and add pizzazz to any outfit/look. If faux nails aren’t your thing I strongly recommend the Gel Effects Polish by Nails Inc ($17), it’s long wearing and gives your nails a serious salon quality effect – I’m definitely into it.
