A Surrey man has been arrested and charged in connection with the attempted abduction of a 4-year-old from a local park.

32-year-old Adam Richard Beedle is currently in custody and is facing charges of uttering a threat, possession of a controlled substance and attempted abduction of a person under 14.

The incident took place on June 21 at Holland Park in Surrey when the father of the girl noticed a suspicious man talking to his daughter while she was playing at the park’s playground. After asking her what he had said, he allegedly confronted Beedle and demanded he leave the park.

Beedle left, but returned a few minutes later in different clothing. He then approached the father and daughter, who were still at the park. He began shouting at them, which eventually resulted in Surrey RCMP being called.

When police arrived, Beedle attempted to escape by bike but was arrested a few blocks away.

What was said to the child and father by Beedle have not been released, as Surrey RCMP say they are part of the evidence.

“The father in this case did the right thing, he was keeping an eye on his child in the park, intervened when he was suspicious of an issue and when the situation became elevated he called police”, said Sgt. Dale Carr.
