Canucks season tickets not selling as well this year

They may have hit a milestone 1 million “likes” on Facebook, but the Vancouver Canucks can’t seem to sell as many season tickets as they used to.

Canucks COO Victor De Bonis told News 1130 the team isn’t worried as of yet, but ticket sales are down so far two to three percent from previous years. De Bonis points out that the season ticket set up is a little confusing to track, because of the variety of plans, but earlier last week he had told the Sun he thought they were about five percent down.

No matter the numbers, it’s a far cry from the not-so-distant past when the team was able to swiftly sell out of season tickets, leaving fans to sit on a lengthy waiting list.

There have been some big personnel changes off the ice at the Canucks, and last week’s draft saw more major moves on the team roster.

Canucks management are hoping those changes will spark interest enough to fill seats. They’re looking to unload 17,000 season tickets by opening day this fall.

The Twitter account @CanucksTickets is focused solely on getting butts into seats, and there are deals aimed at drawing in new season ticket holders.

De Bonis is optimistic the Canucks will sell out season tickets yet again for 2014-2015. He told the Sun: “The way things have been going so far we feel really good about the direction and we hope we are going to keep the sellout streak going. But at the end of the day we need some members to join us and participate in the program.”
