Surrey firefighters rescue dog that fell into 15 metre deep shaft

A dog that fell 15 metres down into a dredging shaft in Surrey has been rescued by firefighters.

According to Global BC, the one-year-old pit bull was walking with its owner on sand dredged from the Fraser River. The dog fell down the shaft located at 10600 Timberland Road near the South Fraser Perimeter Road.

The fire department rescued the animal using a chest harness. It is not known how the animal fell in, but the dog does not appear to be injured.
