Eco Fashion Week

Celebrating its eighth season, Eco Fashion Week (EFW) delivered substance beyond the looks that walked down the runway. In fact, it felt like the equivalent to a vitamin B shot for Vancouver’s sartorial souls. EFW also put its foot down about fashion this season, making a point to let guests know they could “ditch the hippie stigmas and put fashion, left, right and centre stage.”

But, what went on off the runway was just as interesting. In lieu of a sustainable fashion week, many of the guests captured the spirit of the event through the clothes they wore. Local writer, Samantha Sito, among other local industry veterans were challenged to style head to toe Value Village looks and wear their ensembles to day one of the shows. Myriam Laroche, Founder of EFW worked with local fashion designer, Jason Matlo to create a dress from scraps that would otherwise go to waste. Photographer, Bijan Dharas stepped out on opening day in a menswear-inspired ensemble thrifted almost entirely from Value Village. Overall, most of the guests were toned down with a little less flash, but still a lotta sass.

Ahead, 30 street style looks that will feed your sartorial, and hopefully sustainable souls until EFW’s next edition.
