We’re almost there, folks. Year after year we wither through long stretches of rain and sombre skies to get to the good stuff – Vancouver in the summer.

Here we are, teetering on the precipice; shorter hemlines, glistening flesh and sun-kissed faces are just a few Celsius degrees away. Perhaps it’s the exposed skin or the intoxicating scent of sweat that awakens our primal urge to pursue and chase. Or maybe it’s the liberal orders of mojitos. Whatever it is, this sexy season turns our thoughts to our libido.

So, whether you want to chase or be pursued, here are the patios where you can find men soaking up the sun and rum. Game on.

Score on Davie

This quintessential West End watering hole serves up Vancouver’s best (and ingenious) Caesars. Made traditionally Canadian-style with vodka and Clamato, then garnished with everything but the kitchen sink. Some Caesars are garnished with burgers, appies, even breakfast. The $60 Checkmate Caesar is a Caesar topped with whole roast chicken, a cheeseburger, a pulled pork slider, a mac and cheese hotdog, onion rings and chicken wings. And, oh yes, dessert: a brownie, topped with whipped cream. The patio is adorned with some communal table seating – perfect for sharing a Checkmate Caesar.
