Ask any driver in B.C. and they’ll have an opinion on the worst road you could possibly drive on.

It could be because of traffic, potholes or even unsafe twists and turns; but no matter the reason, BCAA wants you to vote for it as one of B.C.’s worst roads in an effort to bring attention to roads in desperate need of repair or redesign.

Roads which receive at least 10 votes will be highlighted in a report provided to the government.

Votes can be cast here until May 26th. Westside Road in Kelowna currently leads the voting for the third year in a row.

2013 Results

As mentioned, last year Westside Road in West Kelowna won top “honours” as B.C.’s worst road for the second year in a row due to potholes and crumbling pavement. Metro Vancouver was well represented on this list, with 3 of the top 10, including Indian River Drive in North Vancouver in 7th, the George Massey Tunnel in Richmond in 3rd, and a surprising entry – the BC Parkway, the first bike path ever nominated, in 2nd.

“It was really interesting to see a bike path get nominated which shows that cycling safety is an on-going concern and cyclists really see bike paths as their roads,” says Ken Cousin, BCAA’s associate vice president of Road Assist. “The bike path making the top 10 ‘Worst Roads’ list speaks volumes about the need to ensure cyclists—and pedestrians, for that matter—have safe places to commute, which helps reduce the risk of traffic collisions for all road users.”
