Street Scouting: Colouring the Streets At Vancouver Fashion Week F/W 2014 (60 PHOTOS)

The Vancouver streets were coloured as the cities stylish set came together at the Chinese Cultural Centre for Vancouver Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2014. The streets never felt so alive as we ushered in a new season and celebrated the fashion that will shape our seasons to come. Admittedly, many of our street style muses were easily identifiable by their reliably-alive sartorial choices. Others made statements without speaking loudly yet captured our attention with their effortless and equally cool approach to personal style.

As Vancouver came together to celebrate one common passion, the excitement outside the shows seemed just as important as what went on inside them. Vancouver’s most risk-taking, style-shaking, trend-making individuals came out to play at the cities’ fashion week. Our street style muses were unafraid of mixing artful prints, incorporating loud colours, and over-accessorizing. All week long, prints, primary’s, and pastels were paired with lighter layers, and fewer of them in lieu of a warmer season. Jessica Luxe stood out in a girly pastel pink number while Alanna Durkovich opted for a head to toe pale blue hue that felt fresh for the new season. Chunky platforms, over-the-top eyewear, and candy-coloured hair surfaced throughout the week time and time again. Anything from saturated green and candy-coloured pink to ombre tips and lavender locks were ever-present.

While some guests showed up solo, others did so in duos, making for some seriously cool street style pairings. Case in point: Nadia and Zehra, twin sisters that sent fearless, unapologetically avant-garde ensembles down the runway, showed up in equally boundary-pushing, colourful layered looks that complemented one another head to toe. Sue Randhawa and son, Liam of The Optical Boutique were impossibly stylish seven days in a row. You can’t miss this duo in our street scouting roundup. On day six, Sue wore a striking handmade piece from Connally Mcdougall’s debut collection that was featured on the runway. On the final day, Liam stepped out in a bright floral suit made by David Alfonso, Columbian designer and participant of Vancouver Fashion Week. Alfonso is also pictured here in head to toe saturated blue, wearing one of his impeccably tailored suits.

While the fashion on the runway was fantastic this season, the style outside the shows certainly didn’t disappoint either. It was exciting, fearless, and fun – just as fashion should be. Visit StreetScout.Me as we continue to post more street style trends from outside the shows this season.
