Pazzarella Closing

Pazzarella is the latest casualty in the competitive Vancouver Food Truck business. The popular wood fired pizza truck announced that it will be closing.

However, it’s indicating that it is looking at other ways to serve their authentic Neopolitan pizzas. Perhaps a full-service restaurant?

Below is Pazzarella’s announcement:

It is with great regret that we are announcing the closing of the Pazzarella Food Truck. During our brief seasonal 3 years in business, we have had much success and critical acclaim with our authentic Neapolitan pizza on wheels, and we could not have done that without amazing customers who shared our passion for honest Neapolitan pizza.

Pizza is a dish with many different interpretations. 3 years ago, the concept of Neapolitan pizza, with its simple but high quality ingredients and made in the way pizza was originally intended, was something most Vancouverites had not had the opportunity to experience. By creating a genuine wood-fired oven inside a food truck, Pazzarella was able to bring authentic Neapolitan pizza directly to the people. We wanted to share our passion for a true Italian pizza experience with as many people as possible.

We feel that we have done that. Pazzarella was enjoyed by a tremendous number of people, many of whom had never tried pizza made in this fashion before. It’s been a weird and wonderful trip that has taken us to many corners of Vancouver and other parts of B.C. We have met many wonderful people along the way, and it has given us many experiences that we will truly cherish. We have also been featured in many great publications, such as The Georgia Straight, MacCleans magazine, many well respected food blogs, and more.

However, the challenges of the Vancouver food truck scene have been equally well documented in the media. Many of the friends we made in this industry have had to close down before us. Our loyal customers and the popularity of our pizza have allowed us to operate as long as we have. In the end, we came to the conclusion that the future of Pazzarella will not be in the food truck format, and we will be looking at other ways to share our passion and pizza with others.

We will never forget the wonderful times we had, basking in the glow of a wood fired oven, punching dough by hand, and serving up the best authentic Neapolitan pizza in the city.
