Conference BIL Talks

With TED Vancouver 2014 in town many Vancouverites and people around town are sure to take notice.

As a fellow TED supporter feeling pretty gung-ho about attending the conference only to realize the hefty $7500 entrance fee. Not ready to trade in your school tuition for a ticket?

Well, on March 22 and 23 BIL 2014 will conduct a series of quarter hour long presentations, similar to TED talks. Taking place at Five Sixty (560 Seymour Street) in downtown Vancouver. Plus side; Admission is FREE, donations are well appreciated. The fun part is that the Attendees themselves will be able to sign up to give talks after they arrive at the “(un)conference”.

According to BIL co-founder Cody Marx Bailey, about 350 attendees are expected at Vancouver’s first edition of the conference, which in previous years has cost anywhere between $1500 and $15000 to orchestrate.

“BIL doesn’t necessarily stand for anything. BIL was born out of a play off of TED in an Excellent Adventure sort of way…

What’s your definition?

B______. I______. L________” – Co-founder of BIL, Michael Cummings

BIL originated in 2008 by a group of friends who founded the whole concept after crashing a TED event in Monterrey, California.  Earlier this month, BIL conference was also held in San Francisco making the events in Vancouver the next big step forward.
