The best restaurants in Vancouver to host a business lunch

If you’re like me, you do your fair share of business lunches out and about in Vancouver. Often I am meeting with donors, mentors and connections I’ve met at networking events. Over the last 10 years lunching out in Vancouver, I have come up with my favourite restaurants in Vancouver to host a business lunch.

1. Yew at The Four Seasons

I am a fan of delicious food, exceptional service and a great atmosphere and Yew boasts all of these. It’s nice to go to a place where “everybody knows your name.” I frequent Yew about once a month and am constantly amazed when the staff remember my name. How the heck do they do that? Executive Chef Ned Bell does an incredible job with the menu and the atmosphere is warm and very inviting. Rest assured you will be in good company lunching at Yew! In the last few months I have seen the Barenaked Ladies, Keith Urban, Rick Hansen and Joe Segal all dining here for lunch. Be sure to make a reservation!

Jen’s Pick: Steelhead Kale Salad, $24

2. Coast

If you’re a true Vancouverite, then you have definitely been to one of the popular Glowbal Group restaurants. Coast is definitely my favourite. The prices for lunch are extremely reasonable and I am a big fan of the lunch sushi specials. The tables are also a good size and spaced far enough apart that you can hear your guest and enjoy a nice conversation. Service, food and atmosphere are all top notch. Franklin and his team at Coast make dining out for lunch a real treat!

Jen’s Pick: The daily sushi special, average price $16 (or so, it changes everyday) or the Coast Burger, $14.95

3. Miku

Miku took over Aqua Riva’s location next to the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel and the restaurant is stunning. Overlooking Vancouver’s harbour, this is absolutely one of my favourite places for a business lunch. The restaurant is bright, warm and modern and the view breathtaking. Get there early if you want one of my favourite tables at the back of the restaurant overlooking the water. The menu at Miku keeps you coming back for more with creative and delicious dishes that are easy to share (if you so choose!).

Jen’s Pick: Kale Gomae and a Red Wave Roll, $22 or Miku Zen, $28

4. Kamei Royale on Burrard

I chose two sushi restaurants for this list because, let’s be honest – we love our sushi in Vancouver. I have been going to Kamei Royale for years and I love the ‘shoes off’ rooms. You can request one when you make your reservation. These are quieter rooms with privacy that are great for serious business lunches. The lunch menu is extensive and I can pretty much guarantee you that you will find something to fit your budget and tastebuds.

Jen’s Pick: Spicy Sashimi Salad (this has some serious kick!), $11.95

5. Bacchus at The Wedgewood Hotel

The atmosphere in Bacchus is one of luxury, elegance and warmth. It is just off Robson Street on Hornby and a wonderful little lunch getaway from a hectic day. You will often see the Hotel General Manager, Philip Meyer checking in with guests and ensuring that the service and food are up to par – trust me, they always are. Bacchus always has me coming back for more. The tables along the street feature huge, bright windows perfect for people watching (just in case you’re waiting for your guest).

Jen’s Pick: West Coast Seafood Salad, $19

Lunch Menu

The general rule of thumb is – if you invite a guest out to lunch, you should pay (or at the very least offer!) That is why often I recommend to students or those hoping to connect with someone after a networking event, to suggest a tea or coffee instead (if you’re on a budget). Stay tuned next month for my Top 5 cafe’s in Vancouver to host a business coffee.
