Metro Vancouverites waking up this morning might have been surprised to see snow outside their window.

Environment Canada has forecasted snow throughout Saturday with a chance of transitioning into wet snow or rain. Snow accumulation of up to 5 centimetres can be expected over higher elevations. Most areas within the City of Vancouver, particularly in lower elevations, have only received a dusting of snow as of late morning.

For Sunday, the weather agency has forecasted similar snowy conditions with up to 5 centimetres of accumulation.

Temperatures will hover at around zero Celsius throughout the weekend before the arrival of warmer temperatures and rain on Monday.
