Explore the city with Vancouver Photowalk

So you got yourself an SLR. You’re ready to shoot, excited as can be knowing that an SLR camera was all you needed to start unleashing the amazing photography skills within you. You take a few portraits of your friends. A close-up of a flower. And maybe an action shot or two – only to realize that you have no idea what you’re doing. Your photos look horrible, you’re disappointed and confused more than ever.

So you proceed to read up on Photography 101. Aperture? IOS? Shutter speed? Exposure? Suddenly, you realize this is going to be a lot harder than you thought. Sound familiar?

Luckily, there is a new fun way to learn photography. Vancouver Photowalks is a hands-on approach to learning photography by visiting local landmarks and neighbourhoods. The concept is simple, bring your camera, and learn by doing.

The photo walks host 4-6 people which is intimate enough to ask questions, make requests or discuss camera issues. They even have different classes based your skill level or interest, so plenty of opportunity to try it a few times and see more of the city.

See some of the photos I snapped (a total beginner photographer) on the walk:
