Earlier today, Manny Osborn-Paradis was named to Canada’s Olympic Alpine Ski Team for next month’s Winter Games at Sochi.

The announcement made in Toronto by Alpine Canada formally confirmed that the Vancouverite will join Erik Guay of Mont Tremblant, Quebec and Jan Hudec of Calgary in Russia.

All three men will compete in downhill and super-G events. Another three Canadian athletes could also be qualified in the coming weeks if they achieve the needed results at the remaining Olympic-qualifying events held in the weeks leading to the Games.

This will be Osborne-Paradis’ third Winter Games and his tenth year in the Canadian alpine ski team. He finished 17th in downhill at Whistler Creekside in 2010, and 13th in downhill and 20th in the super-G at Torino in 2006.

He is hoping to make a comeback following a series of injuries during the 2011-2012 winter season.
