Seven Canucks named to Sochi 2014 Olympic teams

Seven Canucks have been named to represent their respective countries at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games.

Seven players also represented the organization in 2010: Salo, Kesler, D. Sedin, H. Sedin, Luongo, Ehrhoff and Demitra (RIP).

All men’s teams were required to announce their Olympic rosters by today’s deadline set by the International Ice Hockey Federation.

Here’s the list in alphabetical order.

 

Alex Edler – Sweden

This will be Edler’s first appearance at the Olympics.

 

Dan Hamhuis – Canada

This will be Hamhuis’ first appearance at the Olympics.

 

Roberto Luongo – Canada

This will be Luongo’s third appearance at the Olympics. He won Gold in 2010.

Ryan Kesler – USA

This will be Kesler’s second appearance at the Olympics. He won silver in 2010.

 

Daniel Sedin – Sweden

This will be Daniel’s third appearance at the Olympics. He won Gold in 2006.

 

Henrik Sedin – Sweden

This will be Henrik’s third appearance at the Olympics. He won Gold in 2006.

 

Yannick Weber – Switzerland

This will be Weber’s second appearance at the Olympics.

Canucks prospect Ronalds Kenins, who currently plays for Zurich in the Swiss-A League, will be representing Latvia in his first Olympic Games.
