Metro Vancouver will likely see its first snowfall beginning tomorrow when a moisture system mixes in with the tapering arctic cold front.

After tonight, the worst of the frigid cold air will have passed. However, temperatures will hover at freezing levels until Wednesday.

According to Environment Canada, snow flurries on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday could lead to modest snow accumulations of up to 5 cms before rainfall sets in Wednesday afternoon.

Rainfall and temperatures well above freezing are forecasted for Wednesday onwards until early next week.

Over the past few days, the region saw sunny weather and sub-zero temperatures as low as -15 degrees Celsius, with windchill accounted for. The cold temperatures allowed one Surrey farmer to turn a large portion of his farm into an giant outdoor ice rink for the public to skate on for free. Any donations made will go towards the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society.
