It was inevitable, and the time has finally come – BC Lions GM Wally Buono will be inducted into the 2014 Canadian Football Hall of Fame.

Buono, 63, was born in Italy, grew up in Montreal and holds the record for most career wins by a CFL coach at 254. He served as head coach and GM of the Calgary Stampeders from 1990 to 2002 before coming to the BC Lions. While here, Buono won the Grey Cup twice – in 2006 and 2011 (championship game played in BC Place). He retired from coaching after the last, and fifth, championship and remains as the club’s GM.

Before his illustrious career on the sidelines, Buono played in the CFL for 10 seasons with the Montreal Alouettes, where he won two championships.
