Around 9:30 am yesterday, a car travelling west on East Hastings Street at Salsbury Drive swerved to avoid an eastbound SUV that was turning left on Salsbury.

The westbound car then mounted curb and struck a 56 year-old Vancouver man on the sidewalk. The man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

Late last night, the man died in hospital from his injuries.

The driver of the car remained at the scene and is cooperating with police.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or has information about the white SUV, is asked to call the Vancouver Police Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.
