Free Admission Weekend at Science World!

Science World

Science World at TELUS World of Science will be hosting a FREE admission weekend this coming Saturday, September 28 and Sunday, September 29, 2013.

The weekend-long event is sponsored by Genome BC and BC Hydro and will be the museum’s kick-off to its ‘Around the Dome in 30 Days’ Month-Long Science Festival. Around the Dome is being hailed as a “series of activities that will bring the community together to showcase and explore the science and technology all around us.”

If you haven’t been to Science World in awhile, the museum recently underwent a major $35-million renovation and expansion project that significantly increased its indoor exhibition space while introducing new outdoor elements. This includes the construction of the Ken Spencer Science Park, a new outdoor sustainability experience.

Other events that are a part of the month-long Around the Dome science fesival include Do It Yourself Science (Oct. 5-6), the opening of the AMPED feature exhibition (Oct. 12), Meet a Scientist Weekend (Oct. 12-13), the Science of Food (Oct. 14), Meet a First Responder (Oct. 19-20), Careers in Music & Sound (Oct. 24), and Explore Sustainability Weekend (Oct. 26-27). I can’t find any other source stating science world is free this weekend. Not even the science world website.

    Free admission Saturday + Sunday.
I couldn’t find it anywhere on their site, but their official twitter feed backs it up.

I have a friend who volunteers at Science World and she was the first one to tell me. Don’t worry. It is real.

Free admission, yes! But 1.5hr line-up in the rain? No thanks. My family and I are upset. But next time we know to go earlier to beat the rain and the traffic.
