Although British Columbian voters may seemingly be split on Christy Clark’s performance and spring election win, she is currently the Canadian premier with the 2nd highest approval rating.

According to an Angus Reid poll, Clark was only topped by Saskatchewan’s Premier Brad Wall with a 68 per cent satisfaction rating – the only province where a majority of respondents are satisfied with their Premier’s performance. Clark’s approval rating of 44 per cent has been virtually unchanged since June.

Ontario’s Kathleen Wynne came in third (39%) while Quebec’s separatist Pauline Marois surged in recent ratings (39%) bringing her to fourth place.

Meanwhile, Newfoundland’s Premier Kathy Dunderdale came in dead last (20 per cent). Joining her at the back of the pack are Manitoba Premier Greg Selinger and Nova Scotia Premier Darrell Dexter.

However, among all the provincial Opposition Party Leaders, Newfoundland’s Dwight Ball had the highest opposition leader approval rating (57%) in Canada followed closely by Nova Scotia’s Stephen McNeil (51%) and Manitoba’s Brian Pallister (50%).

Adrian Dix, who announced his resignation from BC NDP leadership two weeks earlier, had the second lowest approval rating among all Canadian opposition leaders.
