U4eeYah Music Festival

I’ve never been involved in the process, but I get the feeling that planning, organizing, promoting and then executing a music festival is hard work. Add, on top of that, once the festival is over you need to start focusing on next year. The folks at Prolifik Sound that are behind the U4eeYah Festival are gearing up for round two of executing a festival.

One of the most critical decisions involved with planning a festival is the venue. You need something with decently-sized open spaces. You need to think of how to maximize those spaces for stages, camping and parking. Then you need to think of the trail infrastructure to get around on site. Prolifik Sound has found an inventive way to cover all of those basses easily, have the festival at an existing camp ground. The festival will be happening on the Cedars Camp Ground in Malakwa. The camp ground has full service amenities that most other festivals do not. An Indoor heated pool being one. The more relevant ones would be showers, full bathrooms, electrical plugins for RVs and motorhomes, existing paved parking lots and, of course, established camping areas.

Malakwa isn’t exactly the most well-known town in B.C. But if you look back to 20 years ago, Shambhala put Salmo, B.C. on the map. Malakwa is positioned between Kamloops and Revelstoke, and for the second year in a row it will be home to the U4eeYah Festival.

Like many other summer music festivals, U4eeYah is a multi-day, outdoor festival, complete with camping, vendors, art instillations and more than enough musical acts (over 100) to treat your ears with. The lineup is stacked with the likes of Mat The Alien, BOGL, kAtO and Vancouver’s own Maka. Honestly, there are too many acts to list here. Take a moment to look over the poster below.

Prolifik Sound is warning people to bring ear plugs to the festival. Why is that might you ask? Well, on the main stage they will be blasting 64,000 watts rms in just subs. Aside from the sound, the popular mushroom shaped main stage is getting an upgrade. This year it will not only just be video mapped, but it will also feature a projector with a live feed from the DJ booth, eight RGB lasers, an LED light wall and a few surprises that you will only have to see to believe.

Does that sound like enough to make you want to go? Well, regardless, there is more: a massive chill tent by each stage to protect from sun or rain, atm, vendor village and artist merch booths, VIP areas, face painting, massage and reflexology booths, yoga workshop, sanctuary and first aid tent, playgrounds, live graffiti tent, bonfires and more.

Tickets are moving fast for the festival, so if you want to ensure you make it to the second annual U4eeYah festival, head to their site now and get yourself a ticket already!
