After visiting every corner of Vancouver in search of the city’s best patios, from Granville Island to Coal Harbour, we bring you the final installment in our patio series. After some serious consideration, consultation and culling, we’ve realized this city has no shortage of great patios. Here, not ranked in any particular order, are the best patios in Vancouver.

The Roof at Black and Blue

The Roof at Black + Blue – The Golden Age of Steak, hosts a newly renovated patio, celebrated last month on Vancity Buzz. The Roof features an open kitchen and bar, specifically for guests dining on the patio – which is a first for Vancouver. Patio hours – Monday to Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. with a lovely weekend brunch. Happy hour specials from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday and will feature half price appetizers and $5 cocktails.

Attire is smart casual, arrive early and enjoy the summer sun in comfortable seating while watching the state-of-the-art Josper Charcoal Broiler Oven by Wood Stone.The Roof at Black & Blue can accomodate up to 120 people. Limited reservations and walk-ins are also welcome. Enjoy their delicious pizzas, renowned steak selections or mouth-watering 20 layer chocolate espresso cake, while basking in the sun – atop The Roof .

The Keg Rooftop patio

The Keg Steakhouse & Bar’s rooftop patio is as close to heaven as you can get in Yaletown. The patio design concept is a restaurant on a roof complete with a kitchen, full bar and tables with booth seating. Enjoy a summer-inspired cocktail with a steak while watching seagulls fly past.

Bridges

Let’s get the obvious one out of the way first. Pretty much everyone knows The Local, and trying to nab a patio seat on a sunny day is next to impossible. The Local gets points for being the ‘go to’ in Kits but loses points for being so packed all the time!

Mahony & Sons

This Irish pub lives large as it is situated along Coal Harbour’s waterfront. Their patio flaunts beautiful views of cruise ships, the harbour, Stanley Park and the North Shore mountains. Also, great people watching space as there is lots of walk by traffic along Burrard Landing.

Arguably one of the best views in the city can be found at Tap & Barrel, a relative newcomer to the Vancouver patio scene. Situated along the False Creek seawall, this two-storey watering hole serves familiar pub grub – burgers, pizzas, and a variety of shareable appetizers. Beer and wine connoisseurs can rejoice in the restaurant’s extensive selection of craft beer, as well as Canada’s largest selection of wine on tap. With outdoor seating for 280, Tap & Barrel is favourite spot among locals to spend a lazy Vancouver day.
