On Tuesday, April 30, Escents Aromatherapy launched a new women’s eau de parfum line with 10 per cent of all profits benefiting “The Truth Isn’t Sexy” by The Salvation Army. This campaign raises awareness about human trafficking. It is estimated that 4,000,000 women and children are enslaved in the sex and labour trade worldwide. In North America, 250,000 sex slaves exist, many of them right here in Vancouver. 

Escents proudly supports The Salvation Army’s commitment to helping victims restore their freedom, dignity and self-respect. Partial proceeds from the parfum line will directly benefit Deborah’s Gate, The Salvation Army’s specialized care program that serves international and domestic women who have been sexually exploited and need protection, housing and healing.

“The Salvation Army is grateful to be able to collaborate with local businesses, such as Escents, who support the work we do in our communities by sharing the responsibility of spreading awareness and education around human trafficking,” says Major Ken Ritson, Divisional Secretary for Public Relations & Development, The Salvation Army British Columbia Division. “Our collective response to stop human trafficking in our local communities is an inspiration to continue working towards change and positive action.”
