Miss World Canada 2013 winner Camille Munro

The Miss World Canada 2013 Pageant at RiverRock Casino in Richmond was a hit with 35 beautiful women from all across Canada competing for the title of Miss World Canada 2013, and to represent Canada in the next Miss World Competition in Jakarta, Indonesia. Miss Camille Munro outcompeted the rest with a stellar performance and awesome stage presence, and we have an exclusive interview with her.

What motivated you to participate in Miss World Canada?
I was motivated by the Mandate of the Miss World Canada Organization; “Beauty with a Purpose”, but also by the philanthropic and humanitarian nature of the organization.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am 22-years-old and I recently completed my Bachelor of Human Justice Degree at the University of Regina in Saskatchewan. I have also been a dance teacher since 2008 and a dancer since I was three-years-old. I love to dance and baton twirl, model, act, cross country ski and bake!

What were your thoughts when you were listed as the Top Five?
When they called out the top 5 I was so happy and proud of myself to have made it that far. My second thought was to continue to be myself and give confident answers and to enjoy the moment of being in the top 5 and possibly winning.

What was the best experience about being in Miss World Canada?
The best experience was meeting all the other contestants. Meeting these intelligent and beautiful women from across the country who come from different backgrounds and histories is an opportunity I may never have again (besides the Miss World Pageant). It was a great opportunity to make lasting friendships and to learn more about the women of Canada.

How did you feel when you were crowned as Miss World Canada 2013?
When I was crowned I felt a multitude of emotions! I was so happy and surprised and excited all at once! I was crying, but also smiling at the same time. I was full of adrenaline so the moment was a bit surreal, but it shows that hard work and determination do pay off!

What are your plans now with your new title as the ambassador for Canada?
My plans are to be the best role model that I can for youth. I will obviously be preparing for the Miss World Pageant this September in Jakarta, Indonesia but I am also going to be focusing on youth. I work with youth on a regular basis and I feel that the Title of being Miss World Canada will open more doors to help these young people. I believe that the Strength of Canada is in our youth and so it is very important that we nurture their development. Over and above that, I plan to travel and share the experience with family and friends across Canada.
