On April 2, 2013, the Langara Business Association (LBA) will be hosting the 4th Annual AWEAR Charity Fashion Show – A Night in Paris at Langara College. The charity benefiting from this event is the Battered Women’s Support Services (BWSS). For over 30 years, BWSS has worked to end violence against women and has provided advocacy and direct support to women who have been abused.
The 2013 AWEAR fashion show will take the stage with hosts, Alexia Fairbrother (Miss New Zealand 2006) and Ron Wear (Mr. World Canada 2010/2011). The fashion show this year will showcase the work of the talented, local designers Francesca and Jacquline Conoir. The event also includes a silent auction and live entertainment, as well as food and beverages. Among attendees will be business professionals, students, local designers and artists, which count up to 150 guests.
“BWSS provides direct service support and advocacy for girls and women who have experienced abuse, systemic advocacy, law reform, and for 21 years have delivered youth engagement in a violence prevention program in public and private schools in British Columbia.” Through the AWEAR Charity Fashion Show, it is the Langara Business Association’s goal to raise $3000 for this organization.
Inspired by vintage Parisian couture, the evening will feature a runway fashion show showcasing fabulous local talent and an array of local designers, hairstylists and make-up artists, a silent auction, hors d’oeuvres & wine pairings and live entertainment.
