Photos: Milos Raonic makes Davis Cup history at UBC, advances Canada to quarterfinal

Milos Raonic wins at UBC Davis Cup 2013

History was made at the University of British Columbia’s Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre yesterday when Canada’s Milos Raonic sent Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and Spain packing. For the first time ever, Canada will advance and compete in the quarterfinal of the Davis Cup.

There is no doubt the jubilant home crowds and hockey arena home court advantage played a role in the big Canadian win. Canada will now likely compete against Croatia in the quarterfinal match in early-April 2013, possibly again at home in Vancouver. For coverage and photos of Friday and Saturday’s games, click here.
