Doughnuts in Vancouver: Lucky's Doughnuts

Lucky's Doughnuts

Have you ever paused to think why a city like Vancouver doesn’t have a classy place to get doughnuts? Sometimes Tim Horton’s just doesn’t cut it, especially if you have more of a refined taste in sweets. Now you can look no further than Lucky’s in Mount Pleasant!

Lucky’s Doughnuts is a local doughnut shop within a café called Forty Ninth Parallel. As Forty Ninth Parallel opened initially in 2002, Lucky’s formed a partnership with them in June 2012. Lucky’s is unique from many other bakeries and donut shops. All their ingredients are fresh, everything is made from scratch, and their goods revolve around seasonal ingredients. They offer a very eclectic selection of doughnuts ranging from Old Fashioned Glazed to their popular Apple Bacon Fritters.

Another thing that also makes them stand out from others is how environmentally friendly and ethical they are. The café only supplies paper bags and uses recycled material. The coffee that they serve and sell is fair-trade, selected by their own team members at sources all around the world. They constantly have new types of coffee, and never repeat the same thing. Even the flavour stands out from other coffees; the flavour and richness shines through every sip, highlighting the quality of the roast.

The overall atmosphere of Forty Ninth Parallel is very warm. There is always a friendly staff member or barista to make you feel welcome. The rustic brick walls, custom-made wooden benches and cozy fireplace all tie together the charming ambience of the place. On the Lucky’s end of the café, there is a large glass window with little stools, which showcases the pastry chefs adding the finishing touches to a batch of freshly made doughnuts.
