Vancouver Cheap Eats: Top 5 for $5 Pizza Combos
Raise your hand if you like:
- Eating Pizza
- Saving money and eating pizza
- Drinking a cold pop while saving money and eating pizza
Like water or air supply, pizza is an essential part of living. It doesn’t matter how old you are or what the occasion is, it will be a crowd pleaser no matter what. In fact, we could chow down on it every single day, which is why Vancity Buzz and Chowmenow found some folks who understand that pie is a vital component of a daily diet. Forget day-of-the-week deals, weekly features, or ‘available with coupon’ specials. These combos are available Monday to Sunday, and guess what they add up to?
2 slices + 1 pop x 7 days of the week = < $5.
Now that’s a great equation.
You can put your hand down now.
Bite into this crust and you’ll be pleasantly greeted with a golden, crispy crunch and dough so soft, so flavourful, dare we even say fluffy? However you decide to describe it, Unforgettable is a fair statement. It’s the perfect vehicle for toppings like chorizo, pesto and shrimp. Have it squared, as two slices and a pop is $4.99.
It’s not just the two slices and pop for $4.85 (tax included) that will keep you coming back, it’s the fact that the owners may be some of the nicest people we have ever met. It’s perfectly acceptable to call the man who sells you your lunch Papa, right?
Form Papa to Uncle, looks like they’re keeping cheap combos in the family. Winter leaving you a little lonely? Uncle Fatih is here for you. Order the Garlic Lovers or the Hot and Spicy Lovers, which comes with chorizo, capicollo, and hot banana peppers. For $4.50 you can pair them together for a match made in heaven (and a can of pop to cool down incase things get a little too xxx).
Meat lovers, we wouldn’t leave you out. We’ve found your match, and his name is Romano. From bacon mushroom, chicken deluxe, Italian sausage and the Meat Lovers pizza, you can mix and mingle two slices for $5. He’ll even throw in a can of pop to wash it all down.
Ham and pineapple? Pepperoni? We think those went out of style the same time as blue eye shadow and Kelly Kapowski (okay fine, Kelly will never go out of style). But if you want to step into 2013, Fire Pizza is tossing up some pretty sweet toppings like lamb, maple pork, and Bayerisch (smokie sausages marinated with paprika and garlic). But to really create a fusion, they have the Chicken Masala pizza, which fires up Tandoor masala marinated grilled chicken, green peppers, tomatoes and onions. With 2 slices plus a pop for $4.50, this place is innovative and affordable. Now that’s a trend that’s taking off.
