By Crystal Kwon | 1 year ago | Speak Up

We shared with you late last year that the Oprah would be coming to Vancouver for a special evening. On Thursday, January 24, 2013, the Evening With Oprah Winfrey live event will take place at Rogers Arena.

Thanks to our friends at Metropolis at Metrotown, we’ll be giving away four (4) floor tickets to the event as their Exclusive blog partner. Did we mention that these tickets are on the floor? We’ll be splitting that four into two pairs, giving two lucky winners the chance to bring a friend to the amazing event.

You can also win tickets from Metropolis at Metrotown’s via three different ways:

  1. Visit the mall and drop by Our Favourite Things showroom near Customer Service Upper Level. You can enter to win tickets, and check out a selection of their favourite merchandise from a wide variety of Metropolis at Metrotown retailers.
  2. Check out their Facebook Page and enter the Favorite Things contest. There are two ways to win tickets here:

- Create a collage of your favorite things for a chance at a VIP experience that includes a meet-and-greet.

OR

- Vote for your favourite collage for a chance to win tickets to the event.
Or both!

….Here’s how you can enter our contest!

it was amazing seeing a fellow youtube girl named Charice turn into a star when Oprah invited her on her show. Oprah was so generous to help a young girl from the Philippines. The episode made me cry, especially when Charice’s heartfelt life story was revealed. Oprah became her fairy Godmother and granted Charice’s wish to meet and duet with Celine Dion at Madison Square Garden. It was an unforgettable moment and a great experience to witness.

Oprah has had some very famous guests, from Presidents to Princesses, but the guest I remember the most, or her story, was a lady named Erin Kramp. She was a wife, and mother of a 6 year old little girl. She was on Oprah in the late 90′s and had terminal breast cancer. She had recorded over a hundred video and audio tapes for her little girl, to be played at different points in her life when her mom wouldn’t be there in person to give her that advice ie. love, puberty, graduation, marriage, kids….etc…
She also had pre-bought and wrapped birthday and Christmas presents for the next several years for her daughter.
Talk about an invaluable gift to leave behind. She passed away shortly after filming. I bawled all the way throygh it, definitely memorable.

    The legendary Michael Jackson interview!

It was with Truddi Chase. She was diagnosed with 92 mulitiple personality disorders! Chase had been sexually abused beginning at the age of two and Oprah broke down being able to relate from her own childhood. I come from the same horrific childhood and she has truly inspired me to be the strong woman I have become.

My favorite interview was when Oprah interviewed a young girl and her brother about the effects that Divorce had on their young lives.  The Mother had left without contacting her children for yrs.  The kids were feeling so traumitized and grief stricken. Oprah followed these children’s profile for years and finally contacted their Mother who at this time was incarcerated in prison for a felony.  She scheduled an interview with the children and their Mom to meet and have contact for the first time in years.  The daughter met her Mother and confronter her to why she had left them and how it had impacted her life living without a Mom.  Her son unfortunately was not emotionally ready to make that reconnection.  During the interview process the Mother promised her kids that she would remain in their lives and never ever leave them again.  However that was not the case.  After the Mother was released from jail she made no effort to contact her kids.  Very sad story.
