Blue Dragon Cookoff comes to Vancouver

Blue Dragon has arrived in Vancouver to help resolve one of the oldest, commonly asked questions in the world: what’s for dinner? If you’re no Iron Chef or are in a time-jam, you’ll want to read on. Blue Dragon is a line of Thai, Japanese, Chinese and Vietnamese sauces that make dinner time a bit easier for the home cook.

The entire line includes Asian flavours of all kinds from fish sauce, coconut milk, curry pastes and sauces, chow mein sauce and more. Given Vancouver’s affinity for healthy food and ethnic flavours, they have chosen a great market to break into. The line is entirely MSG-free, with low sodium levels, too.

We participated in a charity cook off at The Dirty Apron with Blue Dragon products where we had access to the entire Blue Dragon product line and a healthy beavy of vegetables, protein, noodles and more.

The stations at The Dirty Apron

The selection – just like on Iron Chef!

Gorgeous pantry full of meal ideas

Our selection of goods: great crunchy veggies, fish sauce (nuoc cham), and szechuan pepper stir fry sauce

Garlic and ginger on a hot pan, with our prawn skewers (marinated with fish sauce) in the background

My partner and I (Karm, Vancity Buzz) and our complete dish

We ended up coming in third place overall but the top prize went to Foodists.
