Blim, the beloved Vancouver arts and craft studio is hosting its Blim Annual Holiday Market on Saturday, December 15, 2012 from 12pm to 6pm at the Chinese Cultural Centre in Chinatown. The Blim Annual Holiday Market is Vancouver’s indie holiday fair that features socially-conscious goods, an in-house cook, and even a DJ.

“I was inspired by the old markets of Camden in London and the Fairfax Market in Los Angeles to create the Blim Annual Holiday Market” says Yuriko Iga, founder and owner of Blim. “This is our holiday version of our monthly Blim Markets, which is our way to bring the community together to celebrate and support independent businesses and entrepreneurs in Vancouver.”

At the Blim Annual Holiday Market, attendees will find handmade, vintage or fair-trade products from 60 local vendors with quirky names like “Passed out dog”, “Draw me a Lion”, and “on the prowl…”. An in-house cook named Open Sesame will be present to serve contemporary homemade Japanese-fusion cuisine, while DJ Darwin Meyers will spin some tunes.

In addition, attendees can get a chance to win an early Christmas present by entering the free door draw for one of three $25 gift certificates towards Blim’s merchandise or workshops. The draws will happen at 2pm, 4pm, and 6pm on the day of the event. And unlike most Christmas markets, the Blim Annual Holiday Market’s admission is by donation. The Blim Annual Holiday Market is truly not your traditional holiday fair.
