The Christmas Family Ball Society marks its 48th year raising funds for lesser-known children’s charities with the society’s annual event, the Family Christmas Ball. This year, the longstanding non-profit organization’s dinner and dance event will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Vancouver. Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Lasting Magic (www.lastingmagic.org), a charity providing grief and bereavement counseling to children with a terminally ill parent.
Much has changed since 1964 when the first Family Ball was held, but the society’s core values remain the same. The family-oriented event celebrates coming together in the spirit of Christmas to give back to the community and those less fortunate. For the first time, this year’s event will be held near the end of December, allowing university students who have been away at school to honour traditional family values, gathering for a formal dinner and sharing in the festivities with their families.
