From November 23-24, 2012, Yaletown will be transformed into Candytown. They’ll be kicking off the festive season with a fun and interactive weekend.

Vancouver’s newest festival will transform the heritage district of Yaletown into a winter wonderland. Lights and candy canes will adorn lamp poles and costumed characters will parade down Mainland Street. Holiday shoppers are invited to start their seasonal gift buying in Yaletown with local merchants as well as a specialty market carrying unique gifts and holiday treats which will take over the street.

Show off your skating skills at the free Scotiabank Yaletown Ice Rink at Bill Curtis Square. NHL star Trevor Linden will make an appearance on Saturday November 24th from 12pm – 3pm, participating in skating activities and signing autographs for fans. The public can sign up for the opportunity to skate with Trevor Linden by visiting Scotiabank Yaletown to enter the draw and will also have the chance to win a signed Trevor Linden hockey jersey.

Hop on the horse-drawn carriage rides brought to you by Allan Financial for a festive tour around Yaletown. Santa will be parking his sleigh to give children a chance to meet his reindeer at Candytown’s very own reindeer barn. Candytown will be a family-friendly event but features fun for people of all ages. Revellers can enjoy the Candytown Cocktail Tour with candy-themed drinks featured at participating Yaletown restaurants.

Candytown will take place on Friday November 23 from 3pm – 9pm, and Saturday November 24 from 12pm – 9pm on Mainland Street in Yaletown. This outdoor Christmas festival is free, open to the public and sure to get people into the Christmas spirit.
