Scott Lee is a mild mannered carpenter who builds sets by day in BC’s film industry. But every year at this time, his neighbours start to wonder what he’s up to when construction begins at his house for his 5th annual Halloween fundraiser to benefit Make-A-Wish BC & Yukon. This year’s theme is Zombie high school.

What started as a fun little display for local neighbourhood kids, last year drew 700 visitors.

The once pristine school is now a disaster, thanks to the undead! From the lunch lady to the science room, it will be full of freaky fun. See zombies enjoy the Monster Mash at the high school dance. Deserted of life, only the walking dead remain. Live actors and animatronic gags await.

The spooky fun takes place on October 26th, 27th, 28th & 31st from 6:00 – 9:30 p.m. nightly by donation to Make-A-Wish at 3166 East 16th Avenue, in Vancouver.

Scott began doing this annual fundraiser for Make-A-Wish back in 2008 when he found out that some of his colleagues’ kids had wishes granted. “I have great memories of Halloween as a kid. Given what I do for a living, I thought that building a haunted house would be fun and it is!” Scott explained.

Planning and design began in August. Throughout September, Scott builds his own animatronic gags. This Thanksgiving weekend, while other people are enjoying turkey, construction physically begins in his yard with the help of some highly skilled friends. Even though it’s a lot of work, he ultimately finds it rewarding to not only provide a Halloween destination for families, but to help grant wishes for kids battling a life-threatening medical condition. Visit www.scaredstiffproductions.com for photos of previous year’s efforts.

Scott has made the attraction safe and suitable for kids of all ages. For the wimpier among us, he has the ability to warn the actors not to jump out (particularly for little kids) plus there’s an escape route for those who are truly freaked out. Raining? No problem…he’s got his attraction covered, literally. Scott’s goal is to raise $6,000, or enough to grant one child’s wish.
