New Forms Festival 2012
Art is never stagnant, it is constantly expanding and evolving from it’s predecessors to creating entire new forms… and the New Forms Festival stays true to its name as it will be showcasing the cutting edge of music and art this weekend from September 13th to the 16th. Curating to us art enthusiasts, this festival promises to give us a taste of some truly awesome acts. And to those in Vancouver who believe this city is dull and offers little variety in terms of entertainment, New Forms is an excellent opportunity to branch out and explore.
The New Forms Festival is achieved through the dedication of New Forms Media Group who over the past 12 years have showcased roughly 600 local acts as well as bringing in many, many national and international acts. This years festival is shaping up to be an amazing one with musicians of not only the cutting edge but also those who have helped form the history and foundation of modern electronic music. The festival will also be showcasing contemporary visual art under the theme “Living Labs” with a free opening at 577 Great Northern Way on Thursday, September 13th from 6-11pm.
The music will encompass the whole weekend from Friday through Sunday at various venues such as the Waldorf, the Hangar, Eatart, and a free all ages show at New Brighton Park on Sunday, September 16th. Acts to be sure to check out are Actress, Teebs, Sinjin Hawke, Kuedo, and our very own Nick Wisdom, 8prn & Headspace, Falcons, Evy Jane, and Jolin Ras… however for $60 full festival pass it is definitely worth it to check out the whole festival.
