Kitsilano Eats: Q4 Ristorante

Q4 Ristorante’s relocated to the old Lumiere and are now open for weekday lunch and weekend brunch.

We were treated to a slider version of the Torpedo Panini, a weekday lunch item, made with the Q4 Meatball. Their meatballs are a blend of veal, pork and beef, which make it amazingly tender and juicy. topped with a bit of pomodoro sauce for contrast. The actual portion lands on your plate just as a torpedo would.

Also available is a BLT with Prosciutto, Arugula and Tomato aioli. It’s nice and light and perfect for a light lunch. Again, this is a taster size, yours will be larger for sure!

For something really healthy, try their Chef’s Salad, made with butter lettuce (my favourite), cucumber, egg, pancetta, and topped with a gorganzola vinaigrette. They are not heavy handed with the dressing here, which is great since the gorganzola packs quite the punch.

We tried their Lobster Risotto as well, and surprisingly, this dish is lighter than you would expect. Fresh peas are the best!

Also available is their Steak Frites. The beef is seared just right to the medium rare that I like. Their fries are crunchy and pairs well with the horseradish foam. Add some arugula and this is an excellent option for lunch.

For dessert, we had a scaled down version of the Q4 Napoleon, where macerated cherries are layered with whipped Marscapone, and caramelized phyllo pastry.
Their old location wasn’t open for lunch so it’s a treat to see Chef Bradford’s spin on the iconic Q4 dinner dishes into dishes suitable for midday dining. And I have to say, the price points are fair, especially in the Kits area.
